For the first time in its 50 year history, Excalibur Bronze is opening its facility to offer sculpture and casting classes.  Participants will learn from the artists and artisans of Excalibur Bronze and will be taken through the entire process, beginning with a studio sculpting class, followed by tours and explanations of the casting process, and finally culminating with the option to have your work cast in bronze, after which students can chase and work their own sculpture, as well as finishing it.

Studio sculpting will include a live model, and instruction beginning with armature going through roughing, forming and refining & detail.

Students will be given the option to work in clay or wax and can choose to have their work cast (for additional cost) or not.

Beyond basic sculpture, advanced students will have the opportunity to learn foundry techniques such as pouring, chasing, fine chasing and patina.

Access to the studio space will also be made available on set evenings and weekends.

4 weeks Starting in June, 2017

4 Saturday Studio classes (3-4 hrs ea), complete with instruction and model(s) PLUS 1 night per week of open studio time

$450 as a package or $100 per class without open studio time

PLUS all full-cycle student work will be featured in a GROUP SHOW at the end of the cycle, to be held in the STARR SPACE GALLERY.

Students can progress through the studio classes working in different media, or they can choose to sculpt to cast.  For those that elect to cast their work, once the sculpting is complete, Excalibur will either direct cast (wax sculpture) or mould and cast (clay sculpture) studio work at well below normal casting costs.

In Addition, casting student work will include hands-on instruction of chasing and detailed metal working on the student's piece as well as a detailed walkthrough of the entire casting process. Students will also have the opportunity to see a bronze pour of either their, or other work.

8" proportional figure direct cast from wax - $350

8" proportional figure moulded and cast from clay - $550

Options for finishing and mounting will also be available to students once casting is complete.

*Schedule and availability subject to change as enrollment continues

**Casting price estimates are subject to adjustment if student work exceeds established boundaries of size, complexity or design.
